How I Met Your Mother

I am in love with this romantic, funny, and addicting show for a number of reasons, but here is my top

10. The Bro code
9. When they make fun of Canada
8. Barney's awesome suits
7. Their booth at McClarans. I want to have a bar and be a "regular" like them
6. Marshall and Lily. They are the cutest couple ever. Yes it is almost nauseating but it is also adorable.
5. Their amazing apartments in the fabulous NYC
4. Robin being so fiercely independent and having a kick-ass job. She's living the dream.
3.  The flashbacks and voice overs and the "this is what I should have said/this is what actually happened" sequences
2. Neil Patrick Harris. He is over the top, ridiculous and sexist, but also loveable and endearing and hilarious and of course, awesome.
1. TED MOSBY!
WHERE DO I FIND HIM IN REAL LIFE? I'm in love.

Oktoberfest

entering germany

Ana loves to say "dankeshon" really slowly and annoyingly instead of your welcome. She does it on purpose because she knows it drives me crazy. Last night, I gave in to her German side and we went to an Oktoberfest with Courtney and Annette. While it was not comparable to the real thing, it was still fun to get a festive drink and a semi-authentic brautwurst (YUM).

A nice brew

Since Ana is my partner in crime, we also successfully got free passes to go back for the following weekend, as well as free beer thanks to our amazing dancing skills and willingness to get up onstage. If anyone needs a lesson on the chicken dance, we would be happy to give you one.

A tribute to Kandace and coping every statue we take a picture with.

I wish this wasn't blurry because it is really cute!
I just discovered that my camera has been on the wrong setting for some time, which has made my pictures fuzzy... Hopefully there is no more of that because I think I fixed it!

Auf Wiedersehen!

Game Day

This weekend marked the season opener for The Ontario Reign and it was quite a momentous occasion! It started out Thursday night when I drove a million miles to get spray tanned for the games. I'll admit, being tan is awesome. I feel like I am in the middle of summer all of the time. Also, I don't get this dark during the summer, so it is even cooler. I just wish there was a way to give me more freckles while she is hosing me down. I guess I'll still have to rely on the actual sun for that.

A very tan me and my sissy at the game! <3

Moving on, I woke up Friday a different race, once again, and I showered to make myself look a litttle more normal. I went to the gym and id some errands then it was time to head over to the arena. We had a call time three hours before the game started--more than for a show! It is alright though, it is fun hanging out at the arena. They have a special dressing room for us, it says "Star Room" outside the door which makes me feel like kind of a big deal. All of us get ready in there and listen to pump up music and wait for the food to arrive because THAT IS THE BEST PART. The Reign brings in places to cater for us before every game, which is delicious and wonderful! I would probably enjoy it/eat more if I wasn't required to run around with my midriff showing for the rest of the night, but I still do not not let that minor detail impede my eating. Friday was chick-fil-a; we enjoyed a spread of chicken sandwiches, fruit and brownies, unfortunately no waffle fries =(. Saturday was Outback Steakhouse, which was really classy. Prime cuts of filet mignon, mashed potatoes, salad, bread and butter--all delicious things. I definitely took more than one roll, I couldn't help it. I did do jumping jacks when I got back to the dressing room to counter act it though. But then I ate another brownie. Oops!

The whole team in the "Star Room" before Friday's game.
We had to self timer this one.

About 30 minutes before game time we have to stand by the doors and wave and smile at people. On Friday we had pocket calendars to hand out but on Saturday we just had to look pretty. Once the game starts, it goes by quickly. There is always someplace to be, giving out prizes or shoveling ice or throwing tshirts. Ice Girls do a lot more running than I anticipated... Although I think it is also a means to keep warm because it is FREEZING in our outfits if we stay in one place too long. When I wasn't running somewhere with a purpose, I was jogging in place to keep from turning into an icicle.

Katrina and I waiting to hand out coupons for free things!

I am happy to report that I am 2 for 2 in not falling on the ice AND all of the shirts I threw made it over the glass and into the crowd. I have no idea who I threw them at or if my aim was good, but I was successful. It is kind of scary entering the arena... My adrenaline was definitely going when we skated out during intermission to throw the shirts. It is like being on stage with a very rowdy audience, something I am not used to in the artsy and classy performing arts. The crowd here roars when you go on the ice because they know you are about to throw free stuff at them. Kandace and I know first hand how crazy people get over free stuff. Anyways, I wasted no time in liberating myself from my shirts, I just threw them out, 1, 2, 3 all very quick. Then I skated around aimlessly waiting for it to be over. It seemed like an eternity. The second night I was a little more relaxed than the first night, but it was still unerving. I am just not very confident on the ice and I feel like everyone can tell. My sister said it looks like I am "swimming through the air" when I am on skates, something one of my co-ice girls affirmed. Apparently I use my arms to propel myself--I blame the dancer in me! My mom said no one else noticed, because they are all too busy looking at us as a whole group, all tanned and uniformed. She said I did fine and that Alyssa was just being mean. Either way, I think I want to get in some more practice time before over the next couple weeks before the game on the 29th.

Posing with the guys from the movie Slapstick. Apparently it is famous...
Since I am such a great hockey fan I had no idea who they were

The best/worst part is taking pictures with fans at the games. It is kind of cool that people want to take pictures with us. I felt famous! Also I love taking pictures, so it is mostly fun. Especially when 12-year-old boys come up and ask. Usually one brave one will step out from their pack of friends and timidly ask if he can have a picture. Once I and whomever I'm with graciously agrees, the other get all emboldened and suddenly they all want a picture. It is predictable and really funny to watch. A group of young girls who were on a cheer team for their junior high also came and talked to me and one of the other girls during one of the games. They were so excited to talk to us, it was really cute.

It can also be really weird and awkward though, because suddenly you are part of this strangers picture! It isn't like I can ask to see their camera to make sure I look good in it before they leave. I just have to hope I didn't blink, that my smile came out alright and that I was sucking in my stomach. Sometimes people got a little too touchy when we were taking the pictures too, which was annoying and momentarily uncomfortable. It is also gross when creepy old guys say things like "you look real good tonight darling" when you are standing next to them for a picture or they make innuendos about hooters when you are handing out prizes. ICK.

Breanna, Kelly, Me and Brittany, before Saturday's game.. Which we won after a very exciting shootout!

All in all working the games was a lot of fun. People pay attention when the uniform walks down the hallway, its like being a mini-celebrity. I also liked that my friends and family all got to come out and support me during my first two games. I was glad they were there, and I even got to hang out with them a little bit when I wasn't busy! Banana is also there which is a lot of fun because I can be totally myself and she is there to laugh with me. It is cool to meet all the people that she works with in the office too. The season is going to be a lot of fun, I can tell. While I haven't hung out with the other ice girls too often, I think we will have some good nights over the next few months.

Me and my family after Friday's Game. Love my parent's matching outfits.

How Sweet.

This makes me smile every time I watch it. I even make an exception to my commercial fast forwarding, rewind and press play when I see it flash by 8x fast. It has all the great makings of a classic: romance, good moral, great soundtrack, and dancing. It is like Sabrina, It's a Wonderful Life, and Singing in the Rain rolled into 60 perfect seconds.

So ready for what's next.

This is on the wall in the casting office at Disneyland. I wish I didn't have to wait so long until I started. I need a distraction. I have too much time on my hands.Things at home are so back and forth and up and down, it is hard to keep myself from getting upset.

Things that annoy me at auditions.

1. people who wear dance shoes outside
2. people who wear disney attire
3. people who wear jeans
4. people who act all excited to see other people or try to chat you up-its an audition, no time to make friends
5. people who snuggle and cuddle while waiting in line. again, this is an audition, not a private hotel room. people who wear WHITE jeans.
6. people with braces
7. when they discriminate against people who are 5'4. I will never understand.
8. when they tell me to be back at 2 and then just make me wait again for hours.
9. girls who brag about being from las vegas
10. when I run out of snacks.
11. not getting called back for the parts I want.
12. sitting on the floor ALL DAY

More Ice.

Aside from the job I had with Matt on Saturday morning, I spent a vast majority of the weekend with the ice girls getting tanned by our sponsors, EO Tan, and getting our pictures taken. While (a little bit of) drama/cliques have started within the group already, we still had a lot of fun this weekend and I have stayed out of the cattiness. I think they like me well enough. They keep saying I remind them of one of the girls from last year, so hopefully that is a good thing.

I finally got a spray tan! Courtney and I have had this on our to do list for years, since high school, so I was pretty excited about it. I am pretty excited about my bronzing and I am looking forward to being tan all through the winter.

Our uniforms aren't ready yet, so we had to come up with different outfits for this shoot. It was kind of a pain and I was disappointing because I really wanted out uniforms! But we went shopping together so that was kind of fun. The fake uniforms came out pretty cute too!

The three new girls! Lauren, Lauren, and Katrina

California Girls! Toned, Tan, Fit and Ready.

So this job isn't exactly difficult. Mostly involves parading around showing off some skin, but it is still fun. The first game is on Oct 14. I am really excited, although, I really should learn how to stop on skates before then... Also, the photographer was really funny. He kept calling me "Anna" because he said I looked like Anna Kendrick. I don't think I do, but it was still entertaining. He also reminded me a lot of Nick...
Can you see why?

Chasing Waterfalls

Another Wednesday hike! Today I went on an excursion with Courtney and Ashley. This hike was so much fun and the destination was beautiful. I feel like such a nature girl--although my shoes are dirty which makes me sad, because they were still new and pretty because I had only worn them at the gym--so I am guessing that disqualifies my naturey-ness.

I slipped on a rock mid hike, and my foot was soaked. I had to stop to squeeze some of the water out!

A Day in the Life

Here is what a Typical Day looks like. In no particular order.

Go to the Gym
Play Tetris
Play Solitaire (Klondike and Spider)
Read Books
Turn in Job Applications to random places
Check my phone to see if anyone has texted me
See that my phone is running out of battery and plug it in, in case a place I applied miraculously decides to call.
Check my email
Check my other email
Check my other other email
Watch multiple episodes of How I Met Your Mother/Teen Mom/Jersey Shore/Toddlers in Tiaras or whatever ever else happens to be on the DVR
Do Laundry/Some sort of chore around the house
Do sudoku puzzles
Check phone again
Contemplate going on Facebook, but talk myself out of it
Read all the daily article on the Yahoo! homepage, even the ones about bacon taste tests, even though I don't even like bacon.
Take Harper outside to pee
Re-check all emails, in case someone sent me something.
Think of other jobs I could apply for
Write another resume
Look at potential grad schools
Play more Solitaire
Take a nap
Take a really long shower. In case someone wants to hang out later or just for general cleanliness
Eat an Uncrustable (DELICIOUS LITTLE NUGGETS WITH PERFECT PB & J RATIO)
go on Stumble Upon
Practice my rapping
Think of things to tell my mom when she comes home and asks me "What have you been doing all day?"
Write terrible poems that I never intend to show a living soul
Make sure the dogs are still alive/haven't peed anywhere
Go on craigslist
Play this new game I found, called Papa's Taco Mia! You have to take orders and make the customers tacos (fast!) other wise they get angry and don't leave you tips.
Attempt to go on Pottermore, but then get frustrated because it goes so slowwwwwww
Read some more
Eat cereal

Basically, I'm living the dream.

womp.

Happy Birthday Matt!

Yesterday night was Matt's Birthday. We went out to dinner at The Boiling Crab, my new favorite place. This restaurant doesn't have plates or utensils. Everything is eaten with your hands and you food comes in plastic bags. You just have to rip the bags open and dump everything out on the table. (They put new paper down on the table before each group, so it isn't gross or anything. They also only serve seafood, WITH ALL THE SHELLS/FACES still on them! Needless to say, this isn't a meal for the faint of heart. You have to really work for your food, de-shelling, cracking, and cave-manning your way through the outer layers to get the delicious, wonderful, buttery, meat underneath. I love shrimp, lobster, and king crab legs, so I was in heaven.

My mom and the birthday boy, looking good in their Boiling Crab bibs!

Happy Crabber

My proudest accomplishment was cleaning out the lobster. Even my Papa wouldn't do it!

Alyss, me, and the mess that was our table

I had a great time, and I am glad that Matt was born. I don't know who I would hang out with if he wasn't around. We are both unemployed and bored most of the time, so it is nice to have someone else to do the things that bored unemployed people do!

Ice Girl

I didn't post this earlier, but I am going to be an Ontario Reign Ice Girl this hockey season! They are a part of the ECHL which is basically minor league hockey. They are affiliated with the LA Kings and sponsored by EO Tan. Which means I get to be tan all winter thanks to free airbrush tanning! Dream come true. There a six of us total and we all met one another and went to the beach yesterday. It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to getting to know them better through out the season. I am also the proud owner of hockey skates. This should be fun to watch!

Ice Girls at the beach. New friends!

Thank you Play it Again Sports
